Verbascum hybrids are crosses between various species of Verbascum, often including Verbascum phoeniceum, which gives them a wide colour range, including shades of apricot, copper, salmon, pink and mauve. They form a basal rosette of large, deep green, crinkled leaves, often with a red midrib. In summer, stems 2-4' tall carry neat spikes of rounded flowers useful for cutting.
