Erinus alpinus

Erinus alpinus is one of the most useful plants for a trough garden, as it forms a creeping mat or cushion of soft toothed leaves. Despite its common name, the flowers are nothing like those of the Foxglove. They are nearer to those of the Eyebright, an irregular square-tipped star, only about a quarter of an inch across, on small spikes about an inch high, in shades of pink, mauve or white. The plant forms a low mound or cushion of rosettes of toothed leaves about half an inch long, and flowers in spring.
