Primula auricula has been grown in our gardens for many years. Its rosettes of pale green leaves are not spoon shaped or crinkled, like most Primulas, but are smooth and leathery, often heavily powdered. The flowers are in small clusters, usually with petals of two separate colours. Originally, only plants with yellow or maroon flowers with yellow centres were grown, but there are now hybrids available in almost every possible colour combination, including greens and greys, for specialist growers.
