Eucomis bicolor is one of the least attractive Pineapple Lilies, so called because of the tuft of small leaves on top of the flowers, making them look a bit like a pineapple. Where the others have nice clean white or green flowers, Eucomis bicolor has solid waxy starry greenish cream flowers with a maroon edge. The leaves arise from a bulb, and are fleshy and wavy, and the stem, around a foot or so high, is green mottled with maroon. The flower spike is about six inches long. It flowers late in the year.
