Cerastium arvense is a delicate or feeble perennial, often found growing amongst grasses. It is quite a leggy plant, with thin stems and short leaves growing in opposite pairs, bearing small clusters of large white flowers similar to those of Cerastium tomentosum (Snow in Summer) grown in gardens.

There are several other similar species, but in most of them the flowers are smaller, or the green calyx is visible between the petals.
